モリ・カドル考 (On Mollycoddle)

• モリ・カドル (Mori Kadoru, "Mollycoddle"), some fans call him "森" (Mori). "Mori" and "Kadoru", I like to call him both of those.
• モリの萌えるところ is written Mori's "moe" points. What! I only said "kawaii"!!
• モリ・カドルの考察 is written my fancy about Mori. Even if it's "theory", the evidence is the weakest.
• 登場人物・勢力 | ACLR覚書 is written notes about characters in ACLR. I noticed Mori can survive when Alliance prevails in the war.
• レイヴンの死亡時間帯 is written characters' time of death in ACLR. Mori dies when the Player accomplished some missions, 管理局占拠部隊排除 (Eliminate Enemy Occupiers), 敵AC撃退 (Eliminate the Enemy AC), 保管区奪還 (Recapture Storage Site), or 炉心破壊 (Shutdown Energy Plant) (only defeated Pulverizers).
• Kawaii? "Hetare"? An unknown young man. I'm attracted by his behavior. The name, the AC, words, voice, and position. Anything. Accelerate フロム脳 (the From-Brain)!
  • The From-Brain is unofficial, a slang of FromSoftware's fans in Japan. This means... uhh... "to imagine deeply"? We love the mysteries FromSoftware has offered.
• Evangel refused him. And Alliance HQ accepted him, as they take care of a puppy? Great. I feel he's not a Raven.

With Zinovii

• Seriously, why is he good at operating the AC more than Zinovii? I like his skill in the "Dagger". The fight style, there's a great difference between Zinovii and him. (Of course their personalities too, hmm?)
  • ジノーヴィー (Jinōbī, "Zinovii") is Genobee's name in Japan.
  • A laser blade, CR-WL88LB3, also called as ダガー (dagā, "the Dagger") by Japanese AC fans.
• Mori and Zinovii, there's a gap between their character designs and the gaming real.
  • Zinovii's "main force" is 大グレ (Daigure, "the Large Grenade Cannon", a nickname of CR-WB78GL). And the official book EXTRA GARAGE VOL.2 says グレネードキャノンを連射する ("... He can fire the Grenade Cannons rapidly"). It can't be! CR-WB78GL's reloading speed, locking on speed, and traveling shell speed, all is too slow! Zinovii burdens his AC with this burden, even two. He narrowly aims the cannon at the Player while jumping. And he rarely uses the blade and the rifle. (Are you joking?) That's a reality. "Dual Face" is completely ヴィジュアル機体 (Bijual-kitai, "designed ACs for visual arts"). In Last Raven, Ed says 優秀な機体 ("a very functional AC") about "Pinch Beck". No, you can't fool me! Anyway, the denizens of the world think Zinovii is a great Raven and Dual Face is a high-grade AC.
  • Mori, he has sane logic (except choose that AC) and does his best. He switches on or off equipment from situations. His rank in EX Arena is... (see below the other item.) He certainly has 戦闘における実力不足 ("lack of competence for fights"), but his operation is not bad. Please, assemble an AC by yourself! And his personality is 性根の卑しい小物 ("mean and small"). That's right.
  • This inconsistency probably attracts Mori's fans. The From-Brain vibrates.
• 鍋島 俊文 (NABESHIMA Toshifumi) who's the producer of ACLR answered the question モリ・カドルってジノーヴィーとなにか関係あるんですか？ ("Does Mollycoddle relate to Zinovii?"):

  • In short, he said "That's behind the scenes. You can think of it." Oh, FROM's manner!
  • It means, the two have something of the relationship. (The best moe!)

What's wrong?

• Mori says この機体で
  負けるはずがないんだ・・・ ("This AC will never lose..."), his voice sounds as if he convinced himself at that moment. It shows that he lacks confidence in himself.
• Mori attempts to become strong by wearing the Core. There's no 矜持 (Kyōji, "pride", "dignity", "pridefulness"), one of the reason why he offends Zinaida and Evangel.
  • He doesn't have or show himself. After the war, what will he do?
• Ed reports about Mori, "戦術部隊には居場所がない" ("He had no place to belong in ATU"). From the mission 管理局占拠部隊排除 (Eliminate Enemy Occupiers), he expects support of friends. Maybe this behavior troubled the Unit. Otherwise, I think he had some problems about communications. A "problem child".
• Some characters despise Mori. Seriously, I think the problem is not the fact that he imitates someone's AC or calls for help. The same people are everywhere. The problem is that he can't shut everyone's mouth. Do have the guts!

The Rank

He's ranked 4th in EX Arena.

• No one knows his real ability... But I'm honestly glad about the rank as one of his fans. Get the From-Brain!
• He's superior to Rim, Raiun, Woo, and Jauser? No kidding!
  • Rim, a Raven who hunts Ravens. A "design for killer". I like someone's words in ARMORED CORE @ ウィキ, 閉所戦闘の鬼 ("The Demon of a corner"). Sacrifice your core for his revenge!

    • Bullet Life is a super cool AC. I bet this serial killer my 1,000,000 C. Don't run away Mori!
    • I love his "murderous intent". His passion excites me. The AC, the history, the profile, the fight style, the lines, the voice... You are perfect, Rim.
  • ライウン (Raiun) is Bolt's name in Japan. He has 主砲 (Shuhō, "the Main Cannon", a nickname of CR-WBW98LX). Whoever stands in front of him dies.
    • Hi Beginner! I recommend you to choose 管理局強行偵察 (Distribution Center Recon) for your first mission because this reward is the highest among the missions you can choose. You should earn COAM first, Sheila's looking at you!

  • 烏大老 (Ū Tā Ron, "Woo Tarong") is Crow's name in Japan. He uses ガトマシ (Gatomashi, "the Gatling Machine Gun", a nickname of CR-WH79M2). "DRAGON" is his mercy.
    • He calls the Player 小僧 (Kozō, "Boy"). No FROM, this is "role" play, huh? It's one of a few dissatisfaction with ACLR. Does he guess that? I don't think so. Vertex has Jack's knowledge.
    • A veteran Raven. From the reverse mission ヘヴンズレイ撃破 (Destroy AC Heaven's Ray) and Ravens' ages, some fans compare Jauser and Woo.
  • ジャウザー (Jauzā, "Jauser") is Jouster's name in Japan. He may be a good rival for Mori. Ed says 凶刃 (Kyōjin, "deadly edge") about him. I think 凶刃 means that he uses the "Dagger" and has no mercy. But Jauser, your weakness is, Eマシ (Īmashi, "the EN Machine Gun", a nickname of WH10M-SILKY).

      • A dictionary says this about 凶刃: Edged tools for hurting people.
• Mori is high-ranked in EX Arena, but his reward is the lowest in Alliance. He probably doesn't have much chances to do missions. (Otherwise, he has failed in missions?) This cause is unknown. Has Alliance coddled him? Or, have they underestimated his ability? There's contrast with Jauser.
  • Principal's rank and reward are near to Mori's. Ed guesses that she expects Alliance to ensure her safety, and he says 本部や部隊の連中が、守ってくれるとも思えんしね。 ("HQ and the Unit won't protect her."). It doesn't seem to have a positive attitude to fights. She hasn't gone on missions much like Mori?
    • Principal was a high-ranked Raven in Nexus, but Ed's assessment of her is incisive. She'll never survive in any route. He's right.

Theory: A Test Pilot of Crest

Some theory, out of those, I prefer "Mori's a test pilot of Crest".

• The period between Nexus and Last Raven, half a year. I think he has operated the AC for one year at least. Otherwise, is he genius? I don't know how people of the AC world get the ability to operate ACs.
  • Zinovii is a 強化人間 (Kyōka-ningen, "Human PLUS"). If Mori is too, he has the enough period to learn operation of ACs.
    • 強化人間の能力で機体のバランスを制御し、2脚脚部なのに歩きながらグレネードキャノンを連射する。 - アーマード・コア EXTRA GARAGE VOL.2 ワールドクロニクル（下） (ISBN: 4-7577-2399-7 or 978-4-7577-2399-3), p.27
    • Of course a pilot who is not a "PLUS" can't operate Pinch Beck practically. But there's no official announcement that Mori is a "PLUS". Though no confirmation, from the fact that he can operate the AC well, he may be a "PLUS".
• His operation is very exemplary, such as manuals. But it also shows lack of experience, for example, he can't control a fixed posture when the body lands on the ground.
  • That situation is called, unofficial, 着地硬直 (chakuchi-kōchoku, perhaps "landing mortis"). An AC jumps, and lands, and then the body can't move for a few seconds. Therefore, the Raven should use the booster before the body touch the ground. It's a basic technic! 🔰 This technic is called, unofficial, 小ジャンプ移動 (shō-janpu-idō, perhaps "a quiet jump and move").

• The world is in the chaos... I think he couldn't survive if he had been alone. I can't imagine he's a "freelance". Even if there's no chaos, he won't survive by himself.
• He believes the AC, not "the top ranker", Zinovii. Of course "Pinch Beck" is Dual Face that's the AC of the top ranker, but he reverses the emblem, it means that he thinks the AC is his, though the name is "Pinch Beck". Maybe others named his AC and codename. So, Evangel? No one names ownself "Mollycoddle"! (Yes, in the AC world, there's a lot of odd names...)
  • In Japanese, a ranked Raven is called ランカー (rankā, "a ranker"). The top-ranked Raven, トップランカー (toppu-rankā, "the top ranker").
• What does "Dual Face" mean? The emblem, Agraya, or Mori? It's meaningful, isn't it? (And this, "Pinch Beck"...)
• "Mollycoddle", yeah, a curious name such as "Pinch Beck". From this name and his personality, I think he's a "child" of Crest's family. Maybe a prodigal son, one of the elite, or something. There's a possibility, better than a "freelance".
  • In Nexus, Crest valued their near Ravens. The Crest operator said to Zinovii, あなたは我が社に必要な人間です ("You are an important person to our corporation.") in the mission 対AC演習 (Training Exercise VS AC). Evangel made contract in person with them. And they hired Todoroki who had the tendency to work for them after the person broke away from Raven's Ark.
    • 轟 (Todoroki) is Merc's name in Japan. This Raven was also high-ranked in Arena.
    • Agraya, she was an AC pilot under exclusive contract with Crest, and had the relationship with Zinovii.
• Is Mori a replacement for Zinovii?
• In any case, I want to know the reason why he fights. Why does he operate ACs? It's dangerous, close to death. What moves him to do that?

With Other Ravens

• I think Mori kills Trot S. Spur.
  • トロット・S・スパー (Torotto Esu Supā, "Trot S. Spur") is Triturate's name in Japan. (The big difference!)
    • Spur? Spar? Sorry Trot, I don't know your spelling!
  • Since Evangel betrayed Alliance, HQ has chased his ass stubbornly. (You fight Vertex, don't you?) Trot dies at 16:00-17:00, If the Player (or any independent Raven) doesn't accept the mission, HQ will assign their suitable potential, such as Mori. (Otherwise, Mori, what are you doing? Work hard!)
  • I like to imagine the relationship between Trot and Mori. Evangel dislikes Mori, so Trot probably took no interest in Mori. But somehow I like them.
  • トロット・S・スパー考 (On Trot S. Spur)
• I think Mori had bribed Gordon to substitute for himself who'd get scoldings or missions.
  • ゴールディ・ゴードン (Gōrudei Gōdon, "Goldie Gordon") is Caspian's name in Japan.
    • He calls the Player 野郎 (Yarō, "Guy"), but I don't mind. The word is common, and Gordon is vulgar.
  • I'm sure Gordon takes bribes from co-workers. He always needs COAM!
• And Evangel. He dislikes 偽物 (Nisemono), any "false" people. He says the word, 偽物は私のほうだったか・・・ ("The false one is me... not you.") in the mission 未確認AC排除 (Eliminate AC Intruder). He accepts Jack's offer because he must prove himself to be "true". He needs the others, his "audience". Ed says 自己顕示欲の塊 ("the Personification of Ego", or simply "the Exhibitionist") about him. So, "Pinch Beck" is a false prize. Mori may be inferior to Evangel, but that fact can't satisfy him, something clouds his mind. And Mori dropped out of ATU.
  • He betrays Alliance in any route. His ego overwhelms the good sense when someone who seems stronger than him appears. I wonder ATU wasn't broken by him until "the fated day". But I can't say "Mori's removal is lucky", because HQ sucks.
  • エヴァンジェ考 (On Evangel)
• And, of course Zina. I hope she's the rival for Mori. She may defeat him but I desire them to talk before the fight.
  • In the official book EXTRA GARAGE VOL.4, Ed says "She always desires the power, so she may be a Human PLUS."

  • She never needs any trophies and audiences unlike Evangel. She chases herself.
• I also think about Todoroki.
  • NOTES: Though I cannot confirm Todoroki's gender or personality, I see the person as a man.
  • He doesn't appear on Last Raven. His state is unknown, but he appears on my fancy, for example, Mori's "pet".
  • I think he's a mercenary of Crest. Maybe the cause is theory or rumor.

The Lines

• Some fans love Mori's lines, especially 管制室、ちゃんと援護しろよ！！ ("The control, support me right!!"). I love it too.
• ずいぶんと調子よさそうだねぇ
  ・・・だまされたとも知らずに
  ("You look so fine. ...Because you don't know what will happen.")
  A "trope". Do you remember Lumberjack? Or Zuben?
• One more my favorite, そろそろ終わりかな？ ("Will it finish soon?"). He shows audaciousness! 😆
